Excellent Location & Amenities

There are 2 U.S. highways in the County connecting with major interstate arteries so that approximately 1/3 of the U.S. population can be reached via overnight trucking.

Airfreight and passenger service is available primarily through nearby Baltimore/Washington International Airport. Locally operated Bay Bridge Airport offers a pilot controlled lighted runway, weather information and fueling 24 hours a day for light aircraft.

Highway Systems

Maryland offers an outstanding transportation infrastructure, including highway, air and port resources. The state has one of the best-maintained highway systems in the country, including heavily traveled routes such as Interstates 95, 97, 81, and 68.


BWI Airport is one of the fastest-growing flight centers in the country, accommodating over 1/3 of the passenger traffic in the Washington-Baltimore metro area, and surpassing Reagan National as the most popular airport among local travelers. Adding to its convenience, the airport also provides light rail, commuter, and Amtrak train service on the airport grounds. BWI is in the midst of an aggressive expansion plan to keep pace with the booming activity of recent years and to position itself as the dominant airport in the region.

Port of Baltimore

The Port of Baltimore is less than 1 hour away, very convenient for businesses who require the port for the shipping and receiving of goods.

Reasonable Business Costs

No inventory tax for Business Personal Property. The state has no corporate franchise tax or gross receipts tax on manufacturers. Queen Anne's County has no tax on:

  • Sales for resale
  • Manufacturer's purchase of raw materials
  • Manufacturing machinery and equipment
  • Purchases of materials and equipment used in research and development and testing of finished products
  • Purchases of computer programs for reproduction or incorporation into another computer program for resale


Maryland Sales and Use Tax is 5% statewide. Queen Anne's County does not have corporate income tax and the state corporate tax rate is a reasonable 7%, which has remained unchanged for decades.

Queen Anne's County's property tax rate is $0.77 per $100 of assessed value and is consistently 1 of the 10 lowest in the state. Queen Anne's County offers a non-residential (commercial) property tax credit for businesses that make significant real property improvements (e.g. construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation or expansion of a non-residential structure), and creates 12 new additional full-time employees.
