Located on the Chesapeake Bay on Kent Island, Maryland, the grounds include a public swimming beach with views of the Bay Bridge, an outdoor amphitheater, trails through the surrounding woods, a family picnic area and a dog beach.
The facility is accessible from the Kent Island South Trail, making it an ideal spot to walk or bike to. The renovated clubhouse is an old ferry terminal that once served passengers traveling to and from the Sandy Point terminal on the western shore. There is ample parking available for those visiting the area.
Dogs are allowed at Matapeake but only on the dog beach which is adjacent to the public swimming beach. Leashed dogs must utilize the pet trail which begins at the fence that boarders the rear of the clubhouse. We invite you to bring your canine but please remember plastic bag to clean up after your pet.
The grounds and beach are open daily from dawn to dusk.
