Chesapeake Heritage & Visitor Center

TAKE THE CHESAPEAKE LEGACY ADVENTURE!
We welcome you to relive the past and discover Queen Anne's rich history and culture. The center's museum, appropriately titled The Chester River room, is adjacent to the Chester River. The space celebrates the vibrant culture of the area. Here you can learn about the changing Chesapeake Bay,  the abundant maritime industry,  local farming and agriculture, and the construction of one of Maryland's Wonders, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The rotating exhibition space within the museum is decorated in art by local artisans and artists. The wildlife porch, at the far end of the museum, offers a enclosed riverfront view. It allows for a great space to enjoy nature and observe the pristine marshland and wildlife indigenous to the area. The porch is also home to our wildlife friends - several baby horseshoe crabs and our lively resident terrapin turtle, Francois. (Look for his moustache!)

 EXPLORE THE GREAT OUTDOORS!
For more exploration, escape to the balcony level of the facility for a scenic view of the Kent Narrows Waterway. From the balcony, you can access the observation tower. Here you will experience an unparalleled birds-eye view of the beautiful landscape. Even during the hottest months, the breeze here is almost always refreshingly cool. We would be remiss to not mention it!
Before leaving the grounds, venture out to Ferry Point Park. This public park is directly adjacent to the building and features a 530 foot marshland boardwalk  that leads to a sandy beach area. We invite you to get your feet wet, take our nature scavenger hunt, or simply enjoy the view!
