Join QAC in Celebrating Earth Day

Countywide Cleanup Event spotlight 741x709

It’s been a long, messy winter and Queen Anne’s County Commissioners invite all citizens to adopt a road and join in the effort of returning our scenic roadways to their former beauty.

“We want to get everybody out there,” said Public Works Director Todd Mohn. “Our motto is ‘Join the Fight, Do what’s Right.”

“Improve our Earth and Queen Anne’s County by selecting a road, school, park or community area. Individual, group and business participation is welcome,” said Connie Toulson, who leads the county’s recycling efforts.

Volunteers can select a road online or at Public Works. There is a tutorial video

and the interactive map to select a road to “adopt” and clean at

The county urges participants to mark which roads they are working on so the crews know where to collect the bags on Monday afternoon.

“I’d like to see the county double-down on the miles we got last year cleaned for the roads,” said Commissioner Jack Wilson. “So everybody come out. This is great for the county and the community.”

The free gloves, trash bags and reflective vests can be picked up at Queen Anne’s County Public Works, Finance Office, Planning and Zoning Office, Kent Island and Centreville libraries and the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center.

For more information call the county’s Public Works Department at 410-758-0920 or check out or email CLEANUP@QAC.ORG.
