  6. Black Watermen of the Chesapeake: Public Program and Film Screening

    A screening of the documentary film, "Captain Eldridge Meredith: A Quintessential African American Waterman" (17:361, will be shown starting at 6:00 pm. Christian Smooth, a 24-yearold Annapolis-based filmmaker and Vince Leggett, executive producer and founder of the Blacks of the Chesapeake, will be on hand to discuss the project. Come and meet Admiral Meredith and other Black Captains of the Chesapeake and hear more about their collective experiences on the bay. Marc Castelli will also be discussing his painting of African American Watermen. The exhibit and film screening are presented by the Blacks of the Chesapeake Foundation, lnc., Smooth House Productions, Queen Anne's Co. Tourism Department, Stories of the Chesapeake Heritage Area, Marc Castelli, Dr. Mel Rapelyea, and Chesapeake Bay Magazine.
