FIRE & EMS COMMISSION

On July 28, 2009, the Board of County Commissioners revised the Queen Anne’s County Code, Title 21 Public Safety,  Article I, Volunteer Fire Companies to formally establish the Queen Anne’s County Fire & EMS Commission (FEC) as a part of County government.

The Commission consists of representatives from the 9 volunteer fire companies and 1 volunteer ambulance department. The FEC’s mission is to coordinate the activities of the volunteer fire and ambulance departments and advise the County Commissioners on matters regarding fire suppression, fire prevention, rescue and volunteer emergency medical services within the County. The FEC develops, implements and enforces procedures, policies, standards, protocols, and education/ training requirements for the departments. It submits to the County an annual budget for the Commission and the volunteer fire and ambulance departments and requires the volunteer departments to submit reports and financial audits as may be required. It performs standards inspections of all volunteer fire and rescue apparatus and equipment.
