Senior Information & Assistance

Information on services to the elderly such as housing, transportation, health care, financial benefits, and much more is available at the Department of Aging. The 2 programs directly under Senior Information and Assistance are:

  • Senior Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), the Queen Anne's County Area Agency on Aging Benefit Counselors offer free one on one counseling and assistance to all Medicare Beneficiaries and their families regardless of age. We are here to answer your questions about Medicare and navigate you through the process. With Medicare you have different options. We can help you explore all of your options and make informed choices. In addition you can be screened for the subsidy programs that are associated with the costs of Medicare or be helped resolving Medicare issues or problems. Call us at 410-758-0848 for assistance.
  • Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP), this is a program that empowers and assists Medicare beneficiaries, their families and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling and education. If you have questions or concerns call 410-758-0848.

Seniors will be screened to determine eligibility and directed to available programs to meet their particular needs. The office serves as a single point of access for all programs and services to the elderly.
