New pricing of recreational field usage for teams and tournaments begins next year.
“Many of our fees have remained stagnant for ten-plus years while our operating costs for maintaining athletic fields have risen considerably in that span,” said Steve Chandlee, Director of Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation. “At our All Sports League Meeting in November, we spoke to the league representatives about the likelihood of having fees increase. They were concerned about the timing of the new fees. We promised that we would give them ample notice so they could plan accordingly. In keeping our word, the League/Seasonal fee increase will not go into effect until July 1st.”
At the December Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting the board approved the departments recommendation to increase all athletic field use fees. All forms of athletic field reservations will see an increase in fees with the changes going into effect January 1, 2019 for all but league fees. League fee increases will go into effect July 1, 2019 giving outside leagues ample time to plan accordingly.
Chandlee said, “Our fee structure is a process we have been looking to update for some time and we will continue to examine as we strive to have the most efficient method of scheduling field use.”
