The October 8th meeting started at 5:00 p.m. with a closed session to discuss Administrative Boards & Commissions and Land Acquisition.   

The Commissioners Regular meeting began at 5:30 pm.

ACTION ITEMS

1.    Letter to MDOT Secretary Rahn – William Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial Bridge – Deck          
Rehabilitation Project Schedule – This is a letter supporting a more aggressive schedule for the Bay Bridge re-decking project.  -  REVISIONS REQUESTED

2.    A Letter to Dr. Kane in regards to the school start date for the 2020/2021 school year – This is a letter in support of starting school after the Labor Day Holiday. – APPROVED & EXECUTED
      
3.    Historic Christ Church/Ownership Transfer to Friends of Historic Christ Church – This is the formal deed of dedication that will transfer the Historic Christ Church property to the Friends of Historic Christ Church. – APPROVED & EXECUTED      

4.    Shine Like Stars Pre-School 1-Year Lease Extension (Historic Christ Church) – This is the final one-year lease agreement between the County and Shine Like Stars Pre-School for the use of the Historic Christ Church. - APPROVED & EXECUTED
                  
5.    Bid Award for the 2020 Comprehensive Plan Update - Requesting that the County hire Smith Planning and Design, LLC and enter into a contract for their services to update the 2020 Queen Anne’s County Comprehensive Plan update at a cost of $191,142.  -APPROVED 5-0

6.    Road Name Request -  This is a request/recommendation to name the un-named private lane off of Grange Hall Road, Little Star Lane, which will be serving Map 61, Parcel #134 with 2 lots, Parcel #132 with 1 lot and Parcel #8 with the main farm and 3 other lots. -APPROVED 5-0

7.    Property Liens - This is a series of five (5) resolutions to place property liens on properties for a nuisance violation (not maintaining grass at or below 12-inches in height).-APPROVED 5-0

8.    Approval of Draft Standard Operating Policies - These are updated polices for the Family Medical Leave Act, Social Media, & Workplace Violence which have been vetted by the Directors and various staff committees.  -APPROVED 5-0

9.    Bids for Dredge Material Placement Site Remediation – This is a contract award recommendation with Retallack & Sons, Inc. for Dredge Material Placement Site (DMPS) Remediation for the Corsica River Dredging project. This contract is for a base bid of $150,825.  Funding will be provided by MD-DNR grant funds as identified in the Corsica River Dredging Capital Project. -APPROVED 5-0
10.    Small Business Saturday Proclamation - This is a proclamation to designate November 30 2019 as Small Business Saturday and to urge residents of our communities to support small businesses and merchants. -TABLED UNTIL NOVEMBER

11.    Economic Development Week Proclamation - This is a proclamation to designate October 20-26 as Economic Development Week to recognize the importance of economic development. -APPROVED 5-0

12.    Wreaths across America donation request – This is a request to sponsor a program to place Christmas wreaths on graves at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery.  Last year we gave $600 for 33 wreaths. -APPROVED 5-0 for $600 Donation
     
13.    FFA request – Trip to the National FFA Convention – This is a request to support the QAC FFA attend the National FAA convention.  Audrey Karbaum FFA president will be attending to respond to questions. -APPROVED 5-0 for $6,000 DONATION
