Attorney Courtney Billups, a former Queen Anne’s County Commissioner was appointed January 14, to the QAC Housing Authority Board.

"It has always been a privilege to serve the citizens of Queen Anne’s County," said

Billups, a resident of Ingleside. He will step in and fill the unexpired term of James Hynson, beginning immediately and expiring June 30, 2022.

Hyson recently retired from the board after giving 31 years of service. Hyson’s contributions to the county will be recognized at the January 28th Commissioners Meeting.

Commissioner Chris Corchiarino said, "As the Commissioner liaison to the Housing Authority, I am grateful that former Commissioner Billups is serving the county on the Housing Authority Board. In recent months we have seen a lot of positive developments with the Housing Authority. Courtney will bring a unique skill set that will no doubt lead to further improvements"

The purpose of the Housing Authority is to provide safe and affordable housing for county residents. It oversees five housing developments: Fisher Manor, 25-unit large family housing; Foxxtown, 40-unit senior housing; Grasonville Terrace, 38-unit senior housing; Riverside Estates, 23-unit small family housing; and Terrapin Grove, 92-unit senior housing.

Director of Queen Anne’s County Public Works Alan Quimby, said the county collectively worked with the Housing Authority’s Interim Executive Director Katya Lindsey and the consulting firm Eleventh House Solutions. The result is potentially $1 Million in State and Federal grants that will assist in improving the county’s Housing Authority Properties.
