Coordinated Response from Queen Anne’s County Results in No Casualties to Staff or Animals

In the afternoon of April 6 there was a report of a commercial building fire at Animal Services in Queenstown. The building was filled with smoke and with coordination and quick response from multiple agencies and departments no animals or staff were harmed.

The animal care and adoption team sprang into action and quickly started evacuating the animals. Our Assistant Chief of Special Operations for the Department of Emergency Services, Lori Morris also responded to the scene and began coordination with county resources. Our Animal Control department responded with the county AKC ReUnite Trailer along with Paul Kurst and the county Public Works team. Our county response along with Queenstown Volunteer Fire Department quickly got the situation under control with no casualties. This coordinated effort shows how well our departments and allied agencies can work together during any emergency to keep all of our residents safe, including our animal residents.
