Monkey Pox Vaccinations

The Queen Anne's County Department of Health has a limited supply of the monkeypox vaccine, which is provided by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH).  Vaccine is available to certain high-risk individuals.

If you have been diagnosed with monkeypox or are experiencing monkeypox symptoms, please contact your medical provider for evaluation, testing and treatment options.  Vaccination is not recommended for those who have or are having symptoms of monkeypox.

Vaccination is not a treatment.  If you have monkeypox and your symptoms resolve, you should speak to your healthcare provider to determine your eligibility for future vaccination.

Visit  https://www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/monkeypox/index.html for more information.

Vaccination Eligibility

The Queen Anne's County Department of Health is following CDC and MDH recommendations, based on current supply, that vaccine is administered to:

*  Persons who have been identified as close contact to a laboratory-confirmed monkeypox case through contact tracing investigations

*  Persons who are self-identified close contacts of a person with monkeypox

*  An impacted community member with potential monkeypox exposure in the prior 2 weeks

If you meet the above eligibility criteria, please contact the Queen Anne's County Department of Health at 410-758-0720 to inquire about vaccine appointment availability.
