Queen Anne’s County Redistricting Board to Hold Public Hearings
Every 10 years the US Census Bureau conducts a count of the population. Utilizing this data, Queen Anne’s County is required to reexamine county commissioner districts to ensure balance and make any necessary changes. If warranted, suggested changes will be brought to the public. The goal is to have near equal representation among the four commissioner districts.
The county must appoint a seven-member board composed of three appointees selected by the commissioners, two appointees of the Democratic Central Committee and two appointees of the Republican Central Committee. The members of the 2022 Redistricting Committee include:
Republican Board Members
Gene Legg
Tracey Lawrence
Laurie Plemons
Mike Arntz
John McQueeney
Democrat Board Members
Gene Ransom
Elaine McNeil
QAC Government Support Staff:
Todd Mohn: County Administrator
Christine Jones: Board of Elections
Jeff Thompson: Attorney for Board of Elections
Beth Malasky: Information & Communications Technology
Sam Stanton: Geographical Information Systems
Laurie Plemons and Gene Ransom are serving as co-chairs of the redistricting board.
The group examined the distribution of voter age residents among the four commissioner districts with the updated Census count. The Redistricting Board will hold three public hearings throughout the county to present this information and take any public testimony.
If you would like to hear more, attend one of three public hearings which will each have an identical presentation followed by opportunity for public testimony.
