Queen Anne’s County Department of Emergency Services Hosts Local Girl Scout Troup
Queen Anne’s County Department of Emergency Services (DES) hosts tours for local groups to learn more about their operations. When the Scout BSA Girls Troop 496 visited over the summer of 2022, they discussed the groups goals and how they could partner with DES in the future. The troop then offered service hours to the department to fulfill their goal of giving back to the community.
“The troops were a tremendous help to our department. Instead of sleeping in, or participating in activities with friends, they chose to give up a Saturday to assist in cleaning and maintenance of equipment, packing and organizing emergency preparedness bags, and stocking of supplies. It was great to see them so excited and ready to help with any task to keep the community prepared,” said Debra Hopkins, Department of Emergency Services.
Not only does DES regularly offer tours and educational presentations, groups can also achieve service hours and badge requirements. To find out more information about visiting the Department of Emergency Services contact Debra Hopkins at dhopkins@qac.org
