Queen Anne's County Department of Emergency Services (DES) in partnership with Queen Anne's County High School has launched an Outdoor Adventure! This new program equips students with vital outdoor survival skills and emergency response techniques.
Holly Woodward, the lead teacher and a certified Wilderness First Aid provider, shared, "Instead of traditional classroom settings, students now get hands-on, experiential learning in the great outdoors. Thanks to DES, we're able to provide real-world emergency response training."
The course covers everything from fishing and archery to camping and survival skills, preparing students for any outdoor situation.
A special thanks to Lt. Debra Hopkins, Emergency Planner, and Shaelyn Parsley, Meteorologist, for their invaluable support! They bring real-world scenarios and life-saving skills into our curriculum, ensuring safety is always a top priority.
Lt. Hopkins added, "We love working with the students and are thrilled about our strong partnership with the school." Let's celebrate this fantastic collaboration and the incredible opportunities it brings to our students!
