Emergency Operations Center Update - 1
A severe weather event possibly being tornadic activity hit Stevensville in the Bay City area around 1:30 am. Multiple calls for structural collapses, tree’s down, inside and outside gas leaks as well as transformer failures flooded the 911 center. Fire / Rescue companies from Queen Anne’s County, Queen Anne’s County DES, Anne Arundel County, Kent County Maryland, Talbot County, Caroline County, as well as Kent County Delaware have responded and mitigated emergencies and area searches. Delmarva Power is on location as well as building inspectors and multiple other resources.
Delmarva Power is reporting approximately 8,300 residents within the Stevensville area without power.
An emergency shelter is open and staffed at Centreville Middle School.
A family reunification site has been set up at the Kent Island Fire Department.
Currently in Centreville Maryland the conditions are overcast with light rain, at 74 degrees.
Queen Anne’s County remains in a high risk for severe thunderstorms throughout the day as a cold front approaches the region. Highs of 89 degrees. Chance is precipitation is 40%.
