Queen Anne’s County is pleased to announce that longtime County Attorney Patrick Thompson has transitioned from contractor to full-time employee, effective November 6, 2024. This change coincides with Thompson’s decision to close his private practice, allowing him to dedicate his full attention to serving the County.

Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation is excited to announce that the Matapeake Clubhouse is available to rent for your holiday celebration from mid-November through mid-January. Celebrate in style with beautiful holiday decorations both inside and out, creating the perfect festive atmosphere for your event.

Located on the scenic Chesapeake Bay, the Matapeake Clubhouse and surrounding grounds offer breathtaking views of the Bay Bridge, making it an ideal setting for weddings, receptions, and special occasions. The rental includes access to the historical clubhouse, with nearby amenities such as a lighted fishing pier, a boat ramp, and a one-mile wooded trail that leads to the bay.

Rental Information:

  • Maximum capacity: 66 indoors, 175 on the grounds
  • Events must conclude by 11:00 p.m.
  • A small, non-commercial kitchen is available for caterers.
  • Restrooms are accessible at the clubhouse and beach area.

Please Note: Permits to use Queen Anne’s County’s Landings and Ramps are actually permits to park at all landing facilities throughout Queen Anne’s County. This permit is valid for launching boats at Matapeake Pier or a kayak or canoe at Romancoke Pier.  The permit does not allow you to use the fishing piers.  A separate parking ticket must be purchased from the pay machine when you arrive at either Matapeake or Romancoke Fishing Pier.

Roads and Transportation

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will resurface six miles of MD 405 (Price Station Road) between US 301 (Blue Star Memorial Highway) and MD 304 (Ruthsburg Road) in Queen Anne’s beginning October 21. All work should be completed by mid-December, weather permitting.

MARYLAND TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY TO HOST CHESAPEAKE BAY CROSSING STUDY: TIER 2 NEPA OPEN HOUSES IN DECEMBER (Public Invited to Attend Virtually or In-Person in Annapolis & Stevensville): The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) will host three Open Houses in December for the Chesapeake Bay Crossing Study: Tier 2 NEPA (Tier 2 Study), as part of the federally-required National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process. The December Open Houses mark a major milestone for the Tier 2 Study. The MDTA will share alternatives to address existing and future transportation issues at the William Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial (Bay) Bridge.
