  1. Jesus Christ Superstar

    June 7, 2019 - June 23, 2019 @ Church Hill Theatre

This 1970 rock opera with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice started as a rock concept album before it made its Broadway debut in 1971. The musical tells the biblical story of Jesus and the last several days of his life. Loosely based on the Gospels, the musical focuses on the personal conflicts between Jesus, his disciples, the people of Israel, and the leadership of Rome. The story is told from the point of view of disciple Judas, and it focuses on Judas’ struggle making the decision to betray Jesus and Jesus’ human psychology, fear, and anger in understanding and accepting his role as both leader and martyr.

Kennard Alumni Association will be hosting Queen Anne’s County’s annual “Juneteenth” Celebration at the “Kennard African American Cultural Heritage Center and Museum”. This will be a free community festival where African American artist will perform and display their craft, vendors will offer their wares, lecturers will educate, and guests will sample African American food and drink. This Juneteenth celebration is not only an African American milestone in our nation but an opportunity to educate and dialogue with all citizens and reflect on our shared history in Queen Anne’s County. We are asking that this will also be a “Giving Day”, where Kennard High School graduates and attendees will bring pictures and memorabilia, for copying or donation, of school and community events down through the years. These items will help us expand our museum exhibits. For additional information contact Clay Washington at 443-239-2110 or Kia Reed at 410-739-0395.
