We’ve been alerted to a scam involving fake invoices that appear to come from a local government agency. Scammers are using publicly available information to create official-looking requests for wire transfers—often for things like zoning or permit fees.
🔎 Be cautious of:
• Unfamiliar or urgent invoices
• Requests for wire transfers
• Emails from suspicious or unfamiliar addresses
💡 REMEMBER: Queen Anne’s County does not request wire transfers for payment. If you receive a suspicious invoice or email, do not respond. Instead, visit www.qac.org to look up the correct contact information for the department in question and call them directly.
