On Tuesday the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners approved the allocation of $595,000 from the Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund (CRRF) for Fiscal Year 2025. Established under the Maryland Cannabis Reform Act of 2023, the CRRF reinvests cannabis tax revenue into communities disproportionately impacted by past cannabis prohibition, supporting social equity, economic development, and key community initiatives.
The Queen Anne’s County Local Management Board serves as the Community Reinvestment and Repair Commission (CRRC), overseeing the grant application process and ensuring transparency in fund distribution. The approved FY2025 allocations include:
- Minority Entrepreneur Training Accelerator (META) Program – $100,000
Supporting leadership development and business training for minority entrepreneurs. - After-School Programming (Partnering for Youth) – $250,000
Providing educational and recreational opportunities for youth. - Homelessness Prevention Efforts – $75,000
Addressing housing instability and wraparound support services. - Ad-Hoc Community Needs Funding – $170,000
Supporting initiatives in mental health, education, housing, workforce development, and economic empowerment.
The CRRF allows Queen Anne’s County to invest in the well-being of our communities by supporting essential programs that foster education, entrepreneurship, and social services, these funds will directly impact those who need them most, ensuring a stronger and more resilient community.
The CRRC will provide an annual report detailing fund allocations, program outcomes, and impact assessments, which will be submitted to the County Commissioners by December 1 each year.
