Commissioner Jim Moran Joins Dedication Honoring QAC US Colored Troops

County Commissioner and Marine Corp Veteran, Jim Moran participated in the dedication of a Plaque in honor of the African Americans that Served in the Civil War from Queen Anne’s County. The plaque is located outside of the Kennard African American Cultural Heritage Center in Centreville. The plaque is part of a larger project to honor African American troops from Queen Anne’s County.

The Plaque Reads:

‘In honor of the “US Color Troops” that Served in the Civil War from Queen Anne’s County.

Without the military help of the black freed men, the war against the south could not have been won. – President Abraham Lincoln”
