Queen Anne’s County Recognizes November as Diabetes Awareness Month
The County Commissioners of Queen Anne’s County have officially proclaimed November as Diabetes Awareness Month, reaffirming the County’s commitment to raising awareness, increasing education, and supporting residents affected by diabetes.
This year’s proclamation was presented by Isabella Corchiarino, a second-year intern with QACTV and a passionate advocate for diabetes awareness. Isabella, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes five years ago at age 13, has championed this effort annually arranging for the proclamation and attending the meeting to accept it for the last two years.
The proclamation highlights the importance of recognizing early signs of diabetes, understanding its different types, and encouraging early detection to prevent serious complications. It also underscores the need for community support and understanding of the everyday realities faced by individuals managing diabetes, including public insulin administration and blood glucose testing.
Queen Anne’s County encourages all residents to learn more about diabetes, support those living with the condition, and participate in raising awareness about this disease that affects so many.
