[ARCHIVED] Extreme Weather Law Restricting Dogs from Being Left Outside

Just a reminder to Queen Anne’s County residents that we have an Extreme Weather Ordinance. This applies to anyone that has a dog and restricts you from leaving them outside longer than 30 minutes during severe weather. 

Extreme weather conditions. Any dog shall be brought inside a home, building or other suitable shelter within 30 minutes of the onset of extreme weather conditions which shall be defined for purpose of this provision as temperatures above 90º or below 32º Fahrenheit or during active weather warnings issued by the National Weather Service.

If you see a dog that is outside for longer than 30 minutes, you can contact Queen Anne’s County Animal Control at (410)758-2393. We encourage folks to contact their neighbors first before contacting Animal Control.

*Queen Anne’s County is currently under a Coastal Flood Warning until Jan 10 at 7am and a Wind Advisory till Jan 10 at 3am
