Long-Serving County Attorney Patrick Thompson Transitions to Full-Time Employee
Queen Anne’s County is pleased to announce that longtime County Attorney Patrick Thompson has transitioned from contractor to full-time employee, effective November 6, 2024. This change coincides with Thompson’s decision to close his private practice, allowing him to dedicate his full attention to serving the County.
Thompson, who has been practicing law since 1975, has served as the Queen Anne’s County Attorney since 1980. Over his distinguished career, he has also served as the attorney for the Town of Centreville and Chestertown. This new role will enable Thompson to continue his invaluable service to the County, with a renewed focus on addressing county matters exclusively.
“We are fortunate to have someone of Pat’s experience serving Queen Anne’s County,” said County Administrator Todd Mohn. “His legal expertise and commitment to our community have been instrumental in shaping our County, and we are deeply grateful for his continued dedication.”
Thompson’s duties as County Attorney will remain largely unchanged, this new arrangement will allow him to focus more deeply on the County’s legal needs.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Thompson has been married to his wife Pamela for 41 years. Together, they share two children.
Queen Anne’s County looks forward to continuing its long-standing partnership with Thompson in his new capacity as full-time County Attorney.
