Queen Anne’s County Honors Two Local Heroes for Bravery
The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners are proud to recognize Mr. John Shoemaker and Mr. Lamar Stoltzfus for their extraordinary acts of heroism that helped save a life and demonstrated the very best of our community.
On February 18, 2025, a serious vehicle fire threatened the life of a young man trapped inside. Without hesitation and with no regard for their own safety, Mr. Shoemaker and Mr. Stoltzfus rushed to the scene and pulled the young man from the burning vehicle, preventing what could have been a tragic loss of life.
In proclamations presented during a recent Commissioners’ meeting, both men were commended for their quick thinking, courage, and selflessness. Their actions reflect the highest ideals of civic duty, human compassion, and personal integrity.
“These acts of bravery serve as powerful reminders of the strength and unity within our community,” said the Commissioners. “Mr. Shoemaker and Mr. Stoltzfus not only saved a life—they inspired all of us with their courage and commitment to helping others.”
The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners extend their deepest gratitude and admiration to Mr. Shoemaker and Mr. Stoltzfus for their unwavering bravery and selfless service.
