[ARCHIVED] QAC Local Management Board Welcomes New Board Members

CENTREVILLE - Queen Anne’s County Local Management Board, also known as Community Partnerships for Children and Families, announces the appointment of two new board members and thanks one retired board member for their service.

 The mission of the Local Management Board is to promote a safe, healthy and stable environment for all Queen Anne's County’s children and families by achieving a comprehensive system of education and health and human services whose effectiveness and responsiveness addresses the needs of children and families through public and private interagency collaboration.

 The board thanks Lee Franklin, a community member, for her dedicated service on the board from 2012-2018. Lee has lived on Kent Island with her husband for 35 years and stayed at home to raise their three boys and then become Kennard Elementary School's enrichment teacher for thirteen years. She coordinated a food rescue program, Food Link, for 25 years, has been on several boards including the Local Management Board, and is a member of the Multicultural Proficiency Committee, Sunday Supper Steering Committee and the Backpack Committee. She volunteer’s for Haven Ministries and every Thursday for the Kent Island Farmer's Market.

 The board welcomes Bill Walmsley, who will serve as a community member; he will serve a three-year term. Mr. Walmsley was raised in Barclay and graduated from Sudlersville High School, after which he received a Bachelor's Degree from Md. State College, (now UMES). Worked for the USDA's Farmers Home Administration and Farm Service Agency in charge of the farm loan program for MD/DE. After his retirement he spent 9 years at The Centreville National as a business development officer. Over the years he has been involved in numerous county organizations.

 Jim Wills is appointed as a public member. He is the Transit Administrator for Queen Anne’s County Department of Community Services, County Ride. He is a proven professional with over 29 years of experience in finance, project and business management, highlighted by 10 years in mortgage banking. Skilled in all aspects of the overall business process including strategic planning, financial management, personnel management, marketing and customer relations. He has extensive involvement in professional and community organizations.

 The two new members complete the 23-member board that oversees Queen Anne’s County Local Management Board.
