Starting Monday, Sept. 30, the right lane of the westbound Bay Bridge will be closed 24/7. The full right-lane closure will continue through April 2020, except during the Thanksgiving holiday. There will be NO two-way operations (when one lane of eastbound traffic travels on the westbound span) during this time. Expect major delays in both directions.
The westbound right lane will be fully reopened for the summer travel season from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day 2020, although temporary lane closures may occur during off-peak hours. Similar closures will occur in fall 2020 and spring 2021, with an estimated project completion in August 2021.
Note: Two-way operations on the westbound span have been suspended since Sept. 24, due to the narrower lane configuration. Expect eastbound afternoon delays.
