The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners proclaimed the week of October 20- 26, as Economic Development Week in Queen Anne’s County.
“Our department celebrated and recognized the occasion by attending a state conference, hosting a local workshop and touring a number of businesses,” said Jean E. Fabi Economic Development Manager.
Fabi said she attended the Maryland Economic Development Association Fall Conference in Easton to keep abreast of statewide economic development initiatives.
Her office also hosted a Small Business Success Workshop on Oct. 22 that was attended by 34 local business owners.

From 2000 to 2018, 80 county defense contractors secured more than $1.4 million from 12,684 contracts.”
In honor of Economic Development Week in Maryland and those who protect and serve, Queen Anne’s County Department of Economic and Tourism Development offered a focus tour of homeland security and DOD contractor businesses on October 24. “It was absolutely fascinating,” said Fabi, who was joined on the tour by Commissioner Phil Dumenil, William Stoops, EDC board member, Tom Glen, EDIF Board member, Melissa Kelly, Representing Senator VanHollen, Kimberly Kratovil, representing Senator Ben Cardin and Mike Arntz, representing Congressman Andy Harris.
