CENTREVILLE – The County Commissioners of Queen Anne’s County announce the dissolution of its contract with Smith Planning & Design for consulting services to update the County’s Comprehensive Plan. Through no fault of their own or County staff, both the County and Smith Planning and Design have agreed to amicably end this contract. The County Commissioners appreciate the level of professional service and guidance that the consultants have brought to the initial stages of this project.
The County will begin the process to secure a new firm for consulting services and proceed with the Queen Anne’s County 2020 Comprehensive Plan Update. The Commissioners appreciate all citizen participation and engagement in the process to date and look forward to continued visioning and public input as the project moves forward.
All meetings scheduled to date will be canceled and rescheduled under the direction of the new consultant. Accordingly, please note that the community visioning sessions scheduled for Thursday, March 5 at the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitors Center and for Wednesday, March 18 at the Grasonville Community Center have been canceled.
Smith Planning & Design has an outstanding project history with the County. The firm recently completed work on the County’s Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan and are continuing work on the County’s Nuisance Flooding Plan and Continuity of Operations Plan.
