KENT ISLAND TO WELCOME TARGET STORE

TO ANCHOR KENT LANDING SHOPPING CENTER

Kent Landing Location Marks First Target to Open in Queen Anne’s County

Queen Anne’s County and Cordish Companies are excited to announce that Kent Landing Shopping Center will soon be home to the national retail store Target. Kent Landing is located at the foot of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Stevensville, Md. Target will occupy approximately 95,000 SF in the shopping center, replacing the former site of Kmart, which closed in December 2019. The Kent Landing location marks an exciting milestone as the first Target to open in the County.

Heather Tinelli, Director of Economic and Tourism Development, Amy Moredock, Director of Planning and Zoning alongside Queen Anne’s County Commissioners, worked closely with the property owner and retailer to close the deal.

“We started this process back in January with the passing of Ordinance 19-17 which allowed the expansion of a use and tenant space in a structure more than 65,000 square feet. Many thanks to Heather Tinelli and Amy Moredock for their hard work in bringing this to fruition.” said Commissioner Jim Moran

“This is an example of how local government can leverage relationships and creativity to provide tools for a landlord to attract the right business that will fill a large vacant space, satisfy an unmet local need, and not create new competition for longtime locally owned businesses”, said Commissioner Chris Corchiarino

“A Target in our community at the old Kmart location will be ideal and will meet the needs of many of our residents. Now our citizens will not have to travel outside of our county to be able to use a store like Target,” said Commissioner Phil Dumenil.

“What a great addition to the county in so many ways. New jobs, redeveloping a vacant space and providing a place for folks to go for their shopping needs that doesn’t require leaving Queen Anne’s County,” said Commissioner Jack Wilson.

“We are incredibly proud and excited to welcome Target to Kent Landing,” said Blake Cordish, Principal of The Cordish Companies. “Target is a first-class retailer and will be an incredible anchor for the region, one that will create new jobs and meaningful economic benefits. We thank Queen Anne’s County for being terrific partners through this process.”

“We’re excited to bring an easy, safe and convenient shopping experience to Kent Island with this new Target store and look forward to serving guests in Queen Anne’s County,” said John Conlin, Senior Vice President, Target Properties.
