Press Release

Brian Riley Named as Director of Information Technology & Communications

Queen Anne’s County announces that Brian Riley has been named as Director of Information Technology & Communications. Brian has served as the Management Analyst for the Department of Public Works since December of 2015.

This newly created department will consist of several divisions; Queen Anne’s County Government and Emergency Services Information Technology, which includes our Geographic Information System Mapping (GIS), the communications divisions will include Queen Anne’s County Television (QACTV) and Community Affairs.

“I look forward to fostering a seamless interaction between all of the divisions that make up this newly formed department and provide service to other county departments which will benefit the residents of Queen Anne’s County”, says director Brian Riley. “A top priority will be working with the department to move forward with the provision of broadband access to the county’s rural areas.”

During his time with Public Works, Brian played a role in the financial organization for the South Kent Island Sewer Project (SKI) along with setting up remote access and operations for field inspectors, contract operations and budgeting. He also set up remote access and operations in the roads repair shop, created new formats for the roads database operation and conversions and migrated the department from onsite applications to cloud based, which allowed a wider range of access.

Prior to joining Queen Anne’s County, Brian worked in the private industry as a Senior Network Engineer eventually becoming a stockholder and Vice President/ Chief Information Officer. Brian is also a member of the County Engineers Association of Maryland (CEAM).

Born and raised in Arnold, he relocated to Florida for several years before settling in Queen Anne’s County in 1995. During his free time, he enjoys riding his Harley and working in the auto repair industry and still operates a repair shop on his days off.

“Join us in giving Brian a warm welcome to his new leadership role as the Director of Information Technology & Communications.” said Todd Mohn, County Administrator
