Perry’s Corner Road in Grasonville will be Closed to Traffic Starting October 18
A portion of Perry’s Corner Road in Grasonville will be closed to all but local traffic beginning October 18, 2021 and remain closed until construction is completed. Construction is expected to last four months. The area of Perry’s Corner that will be closed is from a new subdivision located across from the entrance of Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center to Main Street. To expedite construction, the county is allowing contractors to work on Saturdays and the closure will continue even during off times when no work is being done.
Aside from local traffic, school buses and emergency services will still be allowed through the road closure. School buses will continue with regular pick up and drop off locations.
Delays are expected so avoid the area to every extent possible. From the intersection of Cabin Creek Road, the delay by travelling to, and along, Bennett Point Road to Rt 50 is about 10-minutes. While the road will accommodate local through traffic, you should anticipate delays possibly longer than the 10-minute detour to allow for the ongoing construction activities.
The new development will consist of 156 lots of single-family homes. To support this development, the existing sewer pipe will have to be increased in size from the existing sewer pump station at the Grasonville Park, and a new water main will have to be constructed from Main Street to the entrance of the subdivision.
