Dr. Ciotola, Health Officer for Queen Anne’s County Department of Health, presented his quarterly update to the County Commissioners at the October 11 meeting.
Dr. Ciotola started the update by announcing that the Health Department is back open for regular business. They are going on month 10 of having limited information technology support after last year's breach at the Maryland Department of Health. They are moving forward with the State of Maryland Information Technology and expect to return to regular connectivity in the next month and a half.
He highlighted several of the programs at the Health Department, including, The Women Infants and Children(WIC) program receiving the Breast Feeding Award of Excellence.
Dr. Ciotola concluded the presentation by giving a breaking news update that the first significant step in creating a regional hospital for the mid-shore counties has happened. A letter of intent will be sent to the State of Maryland Healthcare Commission next month.
