Rescued Kittens Vincent and Vinny Seek Foster Homes at Animal Services
A heartwarming tale unfolded at the Vincit Building in Centreville on Tuesday morning when an employee discovered a tiny kitten seeking refuge under one of the county vehicles. The adventurous feline quickly scurried up into the vehicle's engine, prompting a swift response from Queen Anne’s County Animal Control.
In a remarkable display of teamwork, Animal Control and the Department of Public Works collaborated to coax the frightened kitten out of the engine compartment. The diligent efforts of Public Works involved removing necessary parts to gain access to the hiding kitten. Much to everyone's relief, not just one, but two kittens were found tucked away inside the engine.
The fortunate pair has since been transferred to the care of Queen Anne’s County Animal Services, where they underwent a thorough examination and were treated for an eye infection and administered their initial vaccinations. Additionally, plans are underway to schedule the kittens for neutering to prevent further population growth.
Dubbed Vincent and Vinny in honor of the building that became their temporary sanctuary, the kittens are estimated to be around 8 weeks old and both males. Given their background, being born outside and possibly having a feral mother, the kittens require extra attention and gentle human interaction to acclimate to their new surroundings.
Animal Services has opened its doors to applications from individuals interested in fostering these adorable kittens. The aim of fostering is to provide them with the care, love, and socialization necessary to prepare them for adoption into permanent homes. By filling out a form available on the Animal Services website (https://www.qac.org/1436/Forms), prospective fosters can express their interest, and the dedicated Foster Coordinator will be in touch.
