Queen Anne’s County Celebrates Older Americans Month 2024: Powered by Connection
In recognition of the contributions and influence of older adults in our society, Queen Anne’s County proclaims May 2024 as Older Americans Month. This year’s theme, "Powered by Connection," underscores the significant role that meaningful relationships and social connections play in promoting the health and well-being of our older population.
Throughout the month of May, Queen Anne’s County will honor the rich life experiences, wisdom, and ongoing contributions of older adults to our communities. From guiding younger generations to preserving cultural heritage, older Americans continue to shape every facet of American society.
As part of the celebration, the Queen Anne’s County Area Agency on Aging will host the Annual Senior Summit on Friday, May 17th, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the 4-H Park in Centreville. The summit will provide a platform for exploring the vital role of connectedness in supporting independence and aging in place, while addressing issues such as isolation and loneliness.
Bingo will be from 1-2 PM, this is a free event that is new this year to the Senior Summit! Just announced last night, the Tri County Ruritan will be providing lunch to all attendees ages 60 and over free of charge. All others will be able to purchase lunch at the event.
Queen Anne’s County invites residents of all ages to join in celebrating Older Americans Month 2024 and to participate in activities that foster inclusivity, connectedness, and respect for our older citizens.
