[ARCHIVED] Paving Targets Busy Road Sections near Kent Island and Centreville

resurfacing MD 18 and MD 213

Sharing for our friends at Maryland Department of Transportation, State Highway Administration

Paving Targets Busy Road Sections near Kent Island and Centreville (May 15, 2024) –

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will resurface sections of MD 18 (Main Street) and MD 213 (Church Hill Road) in Queen Anne’s County beginning Tuesday, May 28. The resurfacing projects take approximately two weeks to complete at each location, weather permitting.

Work includes milling, paving and striping all lanes and shoulders at these locations:

MD 18 from Postal Road to the US 50 on/off ramps at exit 41, just west of the Kent Narrows drawbridge. Total 1.6 miles.

MD 213 from Gravel Run in Centreville to Purple Martin Road. Total 1.6 miles.

To minimize public impacts, work will take place during overnight hours, 7 p.m.-5 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings. Crews will begin milling MD 18 on May 28, then move the milling operation to MD 213 while MD 18 is being paved. Drivers can expect single-lane closures and flagging, with minor delays possible. Hours may be adjusted as needed in response to traffic conditions. Contractor Allan Myers Inc. of Fallston will perform the work.

Cyclists are reminded that asphalt milling can create rough/grooved pavement for a few days on shoulders as well as travel lanes – plan your routes to avoid milled surfaces if possible.

The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow down and move over in work zones. It’s the law. Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
