The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners are pleased to announce their recommendation for Brice Strang as the next Health Officer for the Queen Anne’s County Department of Health, following the upcoming retirement of Dr. Joseph Ciotola, MD at the end of the year.
Brice Strang brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role. With over 10 years of service in public health, including his recent tenure with the Dorchester County Health Department, Strang has demonstrated leadership in a variety of public health initiatives. His background also includes a career with the U.S. Army Reserve, where he served as a Company Commander and Medical Service Corps Officer, responsible for the planning and execution of medical operations and emergency missions. Currently Strang serves on the board of directors for Mid Shore Behavioral Health and previously served as the co-chair of the Delmarva Regional Healthcare Mutual Aid Group.
Strang holds a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. His extensive experience in public health operations, fiscal management, and emergency preparedness, as well as his knowledge of the Eastern Shore region, will be invaluable assets in this role. His leadership in managing public health programs and responding to crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, has earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the communities he serves.
“I am excited about the opportunity to collaborate with the countless others who dedicate their lives to making Queen Anne’s County a great place to live and work. In addition, I am eager to lead those within the Queen Anne’s County Department of Health to advance their mission as a resource to the community in meeting public health needs.” Said Strang
The Commissioners would also like to extend their gratitude to Deputy Secretary Nilesh Kalyanaraman, Erin Penniston, Chief of Staff, and Janet Esser, Chief of Recruitment Eligibility, Outreach and Classification, for their invaluable assistance throughout the recruitment process.
"We are confident that Brice Strang’s experience, leadership, and dedication to public health will make him an outstanding Health Officer for Queen Anne’s County," said Chris Corchiarino, President of the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners. "We look forward to seeing him continue to build upon the important work Dr. Ciotola has done for the county."
