County Commissioners Seeking Members for Several Boards and Commissions

 

The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners are actively seeking individuals to fill vacancies on several Boards and Commissions. The deadline for applications is April 25, 2025. 

 

The following boards and commissions have upcoming vacancies:

 

  • Board of License Commissioners (Liquor Board)
  • Broadband Advisory Council
  • Department of Emergency Services Advisory Council
  • Economic Development Incentive Fund Commission
  • Historic Stevensville Arts and Entertainment Advisory Board
  • Housing Authority
  • Local Management Board
  • Travel and Tourism Advisory Committee
  • Ethics Commission
  • Commission on Aging

 

The Liquor Control Board held its first meeting in Queen Anne’s County on June 1, 1953, and is regulated by the Alcoholic Beverages Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The Board is responsible for reviewing alcoholic beverage license applications, issuing licenses, license renewals, enforcement of laws, and printing, publishing and updating alcoholic beverage regulations.

 

The Broadband Advisory Council was formed to advise and provide recommendations to the County Commissioners on the provision of broadband services and infrastructure in Queen Anne's County.

 

The Department of Emergency Services Advisory Council advises the Department on matters of policy regarding the provision of emergency services Department on matters of policy regarding the provision of emergency services within QAC.

 

The Economic Development “Incentive Fund Commission” was established by Resolution 13-05 (PDF) on May 14, 2013. The purpose of the commission is to provide economic development programs and initiatives to foster new commercial opportunities while continuing to focus on intrinsic development of existing business entities.

 

The Historic Stevensville Arts and Entertainment Advisory Board

 was created to develop, promote, and support diverse artistic and cultural centers that preserve a sense of place, provide unique local experiences, attract tourism, and spur economic revitalization and neighborhood pride.

 

The purpose of the Housing Authority is to provide decent, safe and affordable housing for the residents of Queen Anne’s County. They may acquire, own, lease and operate housing projects and provide for the construction, reconstruction, improvement, alteration or repair of any housing project; make rent subsidy payments to or on behalf of persons of eligible income, investigate into living, dwelling and housing conditions, and into the means and methods of improving such conditions, and other related tasks.

 

The mission of the Local Management Board is to promote a safe, healthy and stable environment for all Queen Anne's County children and families by achieving a comprehensive system of education, health and human services whose effectiveness and responsiveness addresses the needs of children and families through public and private interagency collaboration.

The Travel and Tourism Advisory Committee was developed to represent specific industries to provide countywide leadership in policy development, management and competitiveness to ensure that Queen Anne’s County enjoys greater economic benefits from travel and tourism spending.
