Queen Anne’s County Commissioners have proclaimed September as Library Card Sign-Up Month in Queen Anne’s County, highlighting the vital role libraries play in education, lifelong learning, and community engagement.
A library card is often described as the most essential school supply, opening the door to resources that support academic achievement and personal growth. From early literacy programs to STEAM activities, research databases, and community events, libraries provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn, connect, and thrive.
At last night’s Commissioners meeting, Queen Anne’s County Library Director Janet Salazar shared an update on the library’s summer programs, noting the high level of participation and community impact. She also invited the Commissioners and the public to an upcoming event celebrating local authors. The event will be held on Saturday, September 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Queen Anne’s County Council for the Arts, 206 S. Commerce Street in Centreville. Guests will have the opportunity to meet authors from across the region who write for all ages and interests, including fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, and local history. Signed copies will be available for purchase.
The Commissioners encourage all residents to sign up for a library card this September and take advantage of the many services and programs offered by the Queen Anne’s County Library.
