CRUMPTON – North County residents will be pleased to learn that QAC’s Animal Control is holding their First Annual Pet Festival in Crumpton on October 3 from 1 to 4 p.m.
This event not only benefits those who attend, it is establishing the creation of an Animal Wellness Fund to help those whose pets are in desperate need of medical attention, yet the owner does not have the ability get proper medical care. This fund is being set up through the county’s Department of Animal Control, said Manager Dawn James. Working in the field she has seen dogs whose nails have grown so long, they impale the paw pad and/ or make it difficult for the animal to walk. Just a few dollars can fix that problem for those pet owners without funds.
During the event there will be Pet Photos and Halloween Costume Contest, Pony Rides, a Petting Zoo and K-9 Bite and Drug Demonstration. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs will be sold to benefit Crumpton Volunteer Fire Department.
While there take advantage of the on-site grooming available by Cruzin for A Grooming which is offering $15 baths and $3 nail trims.
The county’s new AKC Reunite Pet Disaster Trailer will be on display. During a crisis this trailer will be moved where people will be told to seek shelter.
Rabies Vaccinations will be $10, Microchips for $5 and you can register your pet for a one-time fee of $10.
A variety of local organizations are joining force to make this a successful event that can be repeated annually. Chesapeake Cats and Dogs, Animal Resource Foundation and Animal Welfare League.
The location of the event is 2200 Dudley Corners Road, in Crumpton. For more information call QAC Animal Control at 410-758-2393.
