Annual Sale & Tax Sale Certificates

The Queen Anne's County annual tax sale takes place the 3rd Tuesday in May and is held online. Please visit our auction website for more information. 

 

Next Tax Sale:  Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Tax sale certificates are sold to the highest bidder for nonpayment of taxes, water/sewer/assessment bills, road bills, and for nonpayment of water/sewer bills for incorporated towns.

The County will send a delinquent notice to all property owners followed by a Final Notice Before Tax Sale Notice sent out in mid-March.  

Prospective bidders may pre-register online for the sale no later than one week prior to the tax sale date. You must be registered on the website and pay a non-refundable registration fee of $100 in order to participate in the auction.

Tax Sale Property List

Eligible properties will be advertised in Record Observer and online at https://queenannes.marylandtaxsale.com/for three consecutive weeks prior to the sale. The online list will be updated weekly until the tax sale. 

Available Over-the-Counter Tax Sale Certificates

All over-the-counter purchases require the bidder to be registered. In addition, if the purchaser is a business, it must be registered in Maryland and in good standing. Contact the Treasury Division to find out the amount needed to purchase the property of interest.
